Questions before you buy
How hard are the papers?
As hard as the real exam. Each paper follows ICAI’s pattern, marking scheme and difficulty, and together the papers cover every topic, with more weight on the topics that come up most.
How do I send my answer sheet?
Click a photo of each answer page in good light, keep them in order, and combine them into one PDF with Google Drive or any PDF app. Then upload it on the paper’s page.
When do I get my checked copy?
Within 24 hours of uploading, any time of day. You see the expected time as soon as you submit, and the checked copy appears on the paper’s page by itself.
What if my upload fails?
Nothing is used up until your answer sheet is in. If the connection drops, try again from the same page; a submission only counts once the upload finishes.
How long is my access?
180 days from the day you buy, so till 28 Apr 2027 if you buy today. The exact end date stays on My plans.
Can I get a refund?
Plans are non-refundable; payment problems are always fixed or refunded. If money was deducted but the plan didn’t unlock, or you were charged twice, write to us and we’ll sort it out.
Read the refund policyA CA Final DT mock test should make you finish what many students don't: a full computation of total income and tax liability, with a reason for every adjustment, plus the international tax and procedure questions many leave unattempted. This one is a full 100-mark Paper 4 on ICAI's current pattern, set on the law for the attempt it's written for. You write it by hand, scan it and upload one PDF. In 24 hours your checked copy is back, with ICAI-style step-wise marks for every question and the reason for every mark cut.
This page is about Paper 4 alone; DT, IDT and IBS together are on the CA Final Group 2 test series page. The plans and the checking process are on the CA Final test series page.
CA Final DT paper pattern
From ICAI's Guidance Notes for the Final exam (PDF) (opens in a new tab) and the most recent Final Group II suggested answers (PDF) (opens in a new tab):
| Paper 4: Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation | |
|---|---|
| Parts of the syllabus | Part I: Direct Tax Laws; Part II: International Taxation |
| Marks and time | 100 marks, 3 hours |
| Part I of the paper | 30 marks of case scenario based MCQs, four options, all compulsory: 23 MCQs (16 of 1 mark, 7 of 2 marks) in ICAI's Mock Test Papers for Nov 2026, and in our mocks |
| Part II of the paper | 70 marks of descriptive questions: Question 1 compulsory, then any four of the other five, so 14 marks each |
| Negative marking | None, and no reasoning is needed for MCQ answers |
The paper states the assessment year its questions relate to, and you get 15 minutes of advance reading time (PDF) (opens in a new tab) to go through it before writing. The CA Final exam pattern guide sets Paper 4 next to the other five.
Which law and amendments apply
Tax law changes every year, so the law for Paper 4 is set attempt by attempt. ICAI's RTP for each attempt states the Finance Act, the assessment year and the cut-off date for notifications and circulars that apply, and the study material notice lists any judicial or statutory updates to read with it. Find it on our CA Final RTP page; what's applicable for your CA attempt explains how to read it.
DT section-wise weightage
Paper 4 has three sections in ICAI's section-wise weightage (PDF) (opens in a new tab), each allowed "a deviation of maximum ±5%":
| Section | Topics | Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| I | Comprehensive computation for companies and other entities; trusts, political parties and funds; anti-avoidance; digitalisation | 40%–45% |
| II | Tax administration: TDS, TCS and recovery, assessment, appeals, undisclosed income, penalties and prosecution, tax audit | 20%–30% |
| III | International taxation: transfer pricing, non-resident taxation, double taxation relief, advance ruling, model conventions, BEPS, tax treaties | 30%–35% |
Within Section I, ICAI gives 20%–23% to the comprehensive computation alone. It was written under the Income-tax Act, 1961; check ICAI's weightage page (opens in a new tab) for any revision.
Where students lose marks in DT
From ICAI's examiners' comments for May 2026 (Group II suggested answers, PDF (opens in a new tab)) and January 2026 (Group II examiners' comments, PDF (opens in a new tab)):
- Unfinished computation. In Question 1 of both papers, many "did not substantiate the adjustments made while computing income under the head "Profits and gains from business or profession" with proper reasoning", and a large number "attempted the question only partially".
- Facts repeated, no section. Many "merely repeated the facts given in the question and stated the conclusion without substantiating it with the provisions of section 40(a)(i)".
- Amendments missed. Many applied indexation to gold jewellery "though such indexation benefit is not available on the transfer of a capital asset, being gold jewellery in the present case, on or after 23.7.2024."
- International tax skipped. On model tax conventions: "Most of the examinees did not attempt this part of the question."
- Half the requirement. "A large number of examinees did not understand that the question required a two-part answer".
The same habits show up in other papers too; see ICAI examiners' comments: mistakes that cost marks.
How to use a DT mock
Timing plan for 3 hours. In reading time, choose your four optional questions. Give the MCQs about 45 minutes. Question 1 has been a long computation in recent papers: set a limit of about 30 minutes, write a short reason next to each adjustment, and reach total income and tax liability even if some figures stay in outline. Give the other questions about 25 minutes each and keep 10 minutes to check. The minute-by-minute version is in how to attempt a CA Final paper in 3 hours.
When to write it. After you have revised all three sections and read the RTP and updates for your attempt. Write it from 2 PM, by hand, in one sitting, and leave a day to redo the questions you lost marks on.
Keep a list of every section and amendment you missed, and reread it before the paper. ICAI's DT RTPs, MTPs and past papers are on our CA Final free resources page.

Is CA Final DT examined under the Income-tax Act, 2025?
