Questions before you buy
How hard are the papers?
As hard as the real exam. Each paper follows ICAI’s pattern, marking scheme and difficulty, and together the papers cover every topic, with more weight on the topics that come up most.
How do I send my answer sheet?
Click a photo of each answer page in good light, keep them in order, and combine them into one PDF with Google Drive or any PDF app. Then upload it on the paper’s page.
When do I get my checked copy?
Within 24 hours of uploading, any time of day. You see the expected time as soon as you submit, and the checked copy appears on the paper’s page by itself.
What if my upload fails?
Nothing is used up until your answer sheet is in. If the connection drops, try again from the same page; a submission only counts once the upload finishes.
How long is my access?
180 days from the day you buy, so till 28 Apr 2027 if you buy today. The exact end date stays on My plans.
Can I get a refund?
Plans are non-refundable; payment problems are always fixed or refunded. If money was deducted but the plan didn’t unlock, or you were charged twice, write to us and we’ll sort it out.
Read the refund policyA CA Final AFM mock test should check two things: whether you can pick the right model for the facts (APV or NPV, H-Model or a plain dividend discount model, a forward or a money market hedge), and whether you can carry a long calculation through to the decision asked for. This one is a full 100-mark Advanced Financial Management paper on ICAI's current pattern. Write it by hand with your calculator and upload the scanned answer sheet as one PDF. Your checked copy comes back within 24 hours, with ICAI-style step-wise marks, so you see which steps of a long computation earned marks, and the reason for every mark cut.
This page covers Paper 2 only; plans and how the mocks work are on the CA Final test series page, and all three Group I papers are on the CA Final Group 1 test series page.
CA Final AFM paper pattern
From ICAI's Guidance Notes for the Final exam (PDF) (opens in a new tab) and the most recent Final Group I suggested answers (PDF) (opens in a new tab):
| Paper 2: Advanced Financial Management | |
|---|---|
| Marks and time | 100 marks, 3 hours |
| Part I | 30 marks of case scenario based MCQs, four options, all compulsory: 23 MCQs (16 of 1 mark, 7 of 2 marks) in ICAI's Mock Test Papers for Nov 2026, and in our mocks |
| Part II | 70 marks of descriptive questions: Question 1 compulsory, then any four of the other five, so 14 marks each |
| Negative marking | None, and no reasoning is needed for MCQ answers |
There are also 15 minutes of advance reading time (PDF) (opens in a new tab) from 1.45 PM. All six papers are compared in our CA Final exam pattern guide.
AFM section-wise weightage
ICAI's section-wise weightage (PDF) (opens in a new tab) for AFM, which allows "a deviation of maximum ±5%":
| Section | Topics | Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| I | Financial policy and corporate strategy; risk management; advanced capital budgeting | 8%–15% |
| II | Security analysis; security valuation | 20%–30% |
| (no number in ICAI's table) | Portfolio management; securitisation; mutual funds; derivatives | 20%–30% |
| IV | Foreign exchange exposure; international financial management; interest rate risk | 20%–25% |
| V | Business valuation; mergers, acquisitions and restructuring | 10%–15% |
| VI | Startup finance | 2%–5% |
ICAI's skill-wise weightage (PDF) (opens in a new tab) puts 50%–60% of AFM at evaluation and synthesis, the highest share of any of Papers 1 to 5. AFM questions usually end in a decision (which hedge, which offer, which portfolio), so a mock that only drills formulas misses most of the paper. The other papers' weightage is in CA Final syllabus and paper weightage.
Where students lose marks in AFM
From ICAI's examiners' comments for May 2026 (Group I suggested answers, PDF (opens in a new tab)) and January 2026 (Group I examiners' comments, PDF (opens in a new tab)):
- The wrong model. On a valuation, many "failed to apply the prescribed H-Model for valuation. Instead, many examinees incorrectly used the Dividend Discount Model (DDM)."
- Pieces that never join up. Many were "unable to logically integrate Interest Rate Parity (IRP), borrowing cost analysis, exchange rate calculations, and the Adjusted Present Value (APV) approach into a coherent solution."
- Stopping before the decision. On a merger question, students "struggled with the later stages, particularly the determination of the number of shares under the revised offer, valuation of the alternative offers, and the final ranking of those offers."
- Half the question left. In portfolio management, "many attempted only the ranking part while leaving the remaining portion unanswered."
- Ignoring a fact in the question. On derivatives, "In some cases, the lot size given in the question was also ignored." On foreign exchange, "A fundamental error was confusion between bid and ask rates".
- Generic theory. On startup finance, "most students provided vague and generic responses instead of addressing the specific requirements of the question."
Common mistakes across all papers are grouped in ICAI examiners' comments: mistakes that cost marks.
How to use an AFM mock
Timing plan for 3 hours. In reading time, choose your four optional questions by how sure you are of the method, not the topic. Give the MCQs about 45 minutes and fill the OMR as you go. Then about 25 minutes per descriptive question. If a computation is running long, set out the remaining steps with the formula and finish to a decision, because step marks go to the method. Keep 10 minutes to check. The general clock is in how to attempt a CA Final paper in 3 hours.
When to write it. Once you have revised every section and can do each standard calculation without notes. Write it from 2 PM, by hand, with the calculator you will take into the hall. Leave a day after each mock to redo every question you lost marks on, from the start, without looking at the answer.
Keep an error log by reason: wrong model, fact missed, computation slip, decision missing, theory too general. ICAI's own AFM RTPs, MTPs and past papers are on our CA Final free resources page.
Frequently asked questions
Which AFM topics carry the most marks?
By ICAI's weightage: security analysis and valuation (20%–30%), the portfolio, securitisation, mutual funds and derivatives block (20%–30%), and foreign exchange, international financial management and interest rate risk (20%–25%).
Is theory asked in CA Final AFM?
Yes. Recent papers had theory sub-parts on topics such as startup finance, securitisation and Elliott Wave Theory, and the examiners marked down generic answers. Answer exactly what the question asks.
Should I write AFM mocks with a scientific calculator?
No. ICAI's Guidance Notes allow a battery-operated calculator of up to 6 functions, 12 digits and two memories, and say "Scientific calculator is not allowed" (PDF (opens in a new tab)).
