  2. Write your answers by hand, like the real exam.

Questions before you buy

How hard are the papers?

As hard as the real exam. Each paper follows ICAI’s pattern, marking scheme and difficulty, and together the papers cover every topic, with more weight on the topics that come up most.

How do I send my answer sheet?

Click a photo of each answer page in good light, keep them in order, and combine them into one PDF with Google Drive or any PDF app. Then upload it on the paper’s page.

When do I get my checked copy?

Within 24 hours of uploading, any time of day. You see the expected time as soon as you submit, and the checked copy appears on the paper’s page by itself.

What if my upload fails?

Nothing is used up until your answer sheet is in. If the connection drops, try again from the same page; a submission only counts once the upload finishes.

How long is my access?

180 days from the day you buy, so till 28 Apr 2027 if you buy today. The exact end date stays on My plans.

Can I get a refund?

Plans are non-refundable; payment problems are always fixed or refunded. If money was deducted but the plan didn’t unlock, or you were charged twice, write to us and we’ll sort it out.

A CA Foundation Business Economics mock test for Jan 2027 should do what Paper 4 does: put 100 MCQs from all ten chapters in front of you, mostly one-line questions in the study material's own words, with short numericals and "which is NOT" traps, and make every wrong answer cost a quarter of a mark. This one is a full 100-mark Paper 4 on ICAI's current pattern, set on the study material that applies to January 2027. You write it in one 2-hour sitting, writing the option letter against each question number at the start of your answer book, then scan it and upload one PDF. Your checked copy comes back within 24 hours, scored the way ICAI scores it, with the reason for every mark lost.

How the whole test series works, with all four papers in one plan, is on the CA Foundation test series page. This page is only about Paper 4.

CA Foundation Business Economics paper pattern

From ICAI's Paper 4 of September 2026 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) and the papers before it:

Paper 4: Business Economics
Marks and time100 MCQs of 1 mark, 2 hours, no reading time
OptionsFour, all questions compulsory
Negative markingMinus 1/4 of a mark per wrong answer; zero for a blank; more than one answer counts as wrong
Parts or sectionsNone; a few questions share one set of data ("Use the following information to answer …")

The four papers are on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027, and Paper 4 runs from 2 to 4 PM (ICAI schedule, PDF (opens in a new tab)); Paper 4 is on Saturday 9 January 2027, as ICAI's Guidance Notes for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) on icai.org say. How negative marking works in numbers is in CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.

CA Foundation Business Economics Jan 2027: what applies

ICAI's study material notice for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) sets the August 2024 edition (Reprint August 2025 onwards). Unlike Papers 1 and 2, the notice lists no RTP for Paper 4, and there are no amendments. The set marked "Relevant for May, 2027 and Onwards" is not for this attempt.

One thing to know: the study material's figures are mostly from 2021-22 and 2022-23, and its policy facts are as printed, for example the 15th Finance Commission's 41% share for states and the 4% inflation target. Questions are set on those facts and that wording, so learn the book's figures, not the latest news.

CA Foundation Business Economics: where the marks sit

ICAI does not publish a split, but the January, May and September 2026 papers used the same number of questions from each chapter, counted question by question:

ChapterQuestions
1 Nature and Scope of Business Economics5
2 Theory of Demand and Supply10
3 Theory of Production and Cost10
4 Price Determination in Different Markets15
5 Business Cycles5
6 Determination of National Income15
7 Public Finance10
8 Money Market10
9 International Trade10
10 Indian Economy10

Price Determination and National Income are 30 marks together. More detail is in CA Foundation chapter-wise weightage for Jan 2027.

CA Foundation Business Economics: how ICAI sets it

  • Mostly one-line recall: about 70% of questions, in sentences taken nearly word for word from the study material.
  • Numericals: 15 in January 2026, 22 in May and 20 in September. Each needs one formula and at most two steps: price, arc or cross elasticity; costs from a short table; MR from AR and elasticity; national income from a data set; the multiplier; fiscal and primary deficit; the money multiplier.
  • "NOT" and "EXCEPT" questions: 9 to 18 a paper. Read the stem twice.
  • Match the following came five times in September 2026 and not at all in May; statement questions came two or three times a paper. September 2026 also had an assertion-reason question.
  • Wrong options are near-misses: the wrong sign, the inverse (1/MPC for 1/MPS), the next aggregate along (M1 for M3, factor cost for market price), or a sister scheme.

What the 5 CA Foundation Business Economics mocks cover

Every mock has 100 MCQs with the chapter count of ICAI's 2026 papers (5, 10, 10, 15, 5, 15, 10, 10, 10, 10) to within one question, in ICAI's order, and across the five mocks every chapter is covered:

  • Microeconomics: economic systems and central problems; elasticity of every kind, utility and indifference curves; production, returns to scale and cost tables; perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly.
  • Macroeconomics: business cycle phases and indicators; national income aggregates, the multiplier and equilibrium income; public finance, deficits and fiscal federalism; money supply measures, demand for money and RBI's tools.
  • International trade and the Indian economy: trade theories, tariffs and non-tariff measures, FDI, exchange rates, WTO; the 1991 reforms and the schemes in the study material.
  • Mock 4: consumer equilibrium with the MRS, market demand from three buyers, a cost table and a competitive firm's price, output and profit as data sets; game theory and Sweezy's kinked demand curve; Keynes on business cycles and coincident indicators; net factor income from abroad as a data set and the multiplier; fiscal deficit, the Competition Act and Article 282; Tobin and Baumol on the demand for money, M2 and the MSF; absolute advantage, embargoes and direct and indirect exchange-rate quotes; colonial industry, the 1991 reforms and support for organic farming.
  • Mock 5: a budget line, elasticity of supply and income elasticity; a competitive firm's short-run choice and a monopolist's output and price from a schedule as a data set; barometric price leadership and sources of monopoly power; the Great Depression and the 2001 recession; real per capita income, equilibrium income with a lump-sum tax as a data set, and NNDI; externalities, merit goods, fiscal and primary deficits and the Finance Commission; Ways and Means Advances, open market operations, the CRR and the money multiplier; the Doha Round, an export tax, the REER and the forward premium; the Industrial Policy Resolution of 1956 and the 1991 reforms.
  • Level at or above ICAI's 2026 papers, with numericals, data sets and "NOT" questions in every mock.

Questions are brand new, not copies of RTP, MTP or past-paper questions.

CA Foundation Business Economics mock test: how to use it

Timing plan for 2 hours. Recall questions take seconds, so do a first pass of about 60 minutes on all of them, marking every numerical and data set. Spend the next 45 minutes on the marked ones, and keep the last 15 minutes to re-read every "NOT" question and check each letter is against the right question number.

When to write it. After revising all ten chapters, from 2 PM, with no reading time. In our plan, Mock 1 is in late November, Mock 2 in the first half of December and Mock 3 between 21 and 27 December. The full dated calendar is in the CA Foundation mock test plan for Jan 2027. Solve ICAI's own MTPs and past papers too; they are on our CA Foundation free resources page.
