How checking works
- Download the question paper.
- Write your answers by hand, like the real exam.
- Click photos of your answer pages, make one PDF, and upload it.
- Get your checked copy within 24 hours: marks for every question, each mistake and where it is in your answer, and the correct approach.
Questions before you buy
How hard are the papers?
As hard as the real exam. Each paper follows ICAI’s pattern, marking scheme and difficulty, and together the papers cover every topic, with more weight on the topics that come up most.
How do I send my answer sheet?
Click a photo of each answer page in good light, keep them in order, and combine them into one PDF with Google Drive or any PDF app. Then upload it on the paper’s page.
When do I get my checked copy?
Within 24 hours of uploading, any time of day. You see the expected time as soon as you submit, and the checked copy appears on the paper’s page by itself.
What if my upload fails?
Nothing is used up until your answer sheet is in. If the connection drops, try again from the same page; a submission only counts once the upload finishes.
How long is my access?
180 days from the day you buy, so till 28 Apr 2027 if you buy today. The exact end date stays on My plans.
Can I get a refund?
Plans are non-refundable; payment problems are always fixed or refunded. If money was deducted but the plan didn’t unlock, or you were charged twice, write to us and we’ll sort it out.
Read the refund policyA CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude mock test for Jan 2027 should do what Paper 3 does: put 100 standalone MCQs in front of you, with no reading time, and make every wrong guess cost a quarter of a mark. This one is a full 100-mark Paper 3 on ICAI's current pattern, set on the study material that applies to January 2027. You write it in one 2-hour sitting with a calculator, writing the option letter against each question number at the start of your answer book, then scan it and upload one PDF. Your checked copy comes back within 24 hours, scored the way ICAI scores it, with the reason for every mark lost.
How the whole test series works, with all four papers in one plan, is on the CA Foundation test series page. This page is only about Paper 3.
CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude paper pattern
From ICAI's Paper 3 of September 2026 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) and the syllabus in the study material (PDF) (opens in a new tab):
| Paper 3: Quantitative Aptitude | |
|---|---|
| Marks and time | 100 MCQs of 1 mark, 2 hours, no reading time |
| Parts (syllabus) | Business Mathematics 40, Logical Reasoning 20, Statistics 40 |
| Options | Four, exactly one correct |
| Negative marking | Minus 1/4 of a mark per wrong answer; zero for a blank; more than one answer counts as wrong |
| Case clusters | None; every MCQ stands alone, some with a small data table |
That is 1 minute 12 seconds a question. The paper has no part headings: Maths, Reasoning and Statistics come in two rounds. The four papers are on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027, and Paper 3 runs from 2 to 4 PM (ICAI schedule, PDF (opens in a new tab)); Paper 3 is on Thursday 7 January 2027, as ICAI's Guidance Notes for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) on icai.org say. How negative marking works in numbers is in CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.
CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude Jan 2027: what applies
ICAI's study material notice for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) sets the August 2024 edition (Reprint August 2025 onwards). Unlike Papers 1 and 2, the notice lists no RTP for Paper 3, and there are no amendments: it is not a law paper. Follow the eighteen chapters of the syllabus. Matrices are not in the current syllabus, and the syllabus keeps calculus to basic business applications.
CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude: where the marks sit
ICAI fixes the three parts at 40, 20 and 40, but not the chapters inside them. In the September 2026 paper:
| Area | Questions in September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Ch 4 Mathematics of Finance | 14: compound and simple interest, effective rate, annuities, sinking fund, NPV, perpetuity, CAGR, lease |
| Ch 1, 2 Ratio, indices, logarithms, equations | 9 |
| Ch 5 to 8 Permutations, sequences, sets and functions, calculus | 16, about 4 each |
| Ch 3 Linear inequalities | 1 |
| Ch 9 to 12 Logical Reasoning | 20: 5 each from number series and coding, directions, seating, blood relations |
| Ch 14 Central tendency and dispersion | 11 |
| Ch 13 Statistical description and sampling | 9 |
| Ch 15 Probability | 7 |
| Ch 17 Correlation and regression, Ch 18 Index numbers | 5 each |
| Ch 16 Theoretical distributions | 3 |
Mathematics of Finance is the biggest chapter. More detail is in CA Foundation chapter-wise weightage for Jan 2027.
CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude: how ICAI sets it
- Most items are short: one formula and two or three steps. About ten in September 2026 were long: combined standard deviation, NPV of four projects, Bayes' theorem with three classes, Fisher's index with four items.
- Formats vary: match the following, "which statement is true", value-plus-decision options ("accept" or "reject"), and data tables inside a question.
- Wrong options are built from real slips: the median offered beside the mode, a correlation with the wrong sign, a standard deviation changed when only a constant was added.
What the 5 CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude mocks cover
Every mock has 100 MCQs with the same chapter count as September 2026: Business Mathematics 40, Logical Reasoning 20, Statistics 40, with 14 on Mathematics of Finance and 5 on each reasoning chapter. Across the five mocks every chapter of the syllabus is covered, including the parts students skip:
- Mathematics of Finance: simple and compound interest, effective rate, depreciation, annuities, EMI, sinking fund, perpetuity, NPV, bond valuation, CAGR, real and nominal return, lease or buy.
- Algebra and calculus: ratio, indices and logarithms; equations up to three variables and cubics; inequalities; permutations including circular; AP and GP; sets, functions and limits; basic differentiation and integration.
- Statistics: data presentation and sampling; mean, median, mode and dispersion; probability and expectation; binomial, Poisson and normal; correlation and regression; index numbers.
- Mock 4: a two-stage annuity, a perpetuity paid every two years, a replace-or-not NPV and a buy-or-not bond value; a cubic with roots in GP, a linear programme over an unbounded region, a limit that gives e and a parametric derivative; the dictionary rank of TRADE and 5-digit numbers divisible by 4; seating at a round, a rectangular and a square table; principles of sample survey and the standard error of a sample mean; Bayes' theorem with three advisers, Poisson and normal; splicing two index series and the time reversal test.
- Mock 5: break-even outputs from a quadratic, a three-variable system, present value at two rates, a perpetuity due, the price worth paying for a business, lease or buy, an EMI loan and a sinking fund for a rising cost; the sum of all 4-digit numbers, a round table with the host fixed, terms common to two APs, continuity and minimum average cost; a walk with a diagonal leg; sample size for a proportion and units chosen from random digits; Bayes' theorem with three coins, a Poisson fit, regression from raw pairs, Fisher's index and Paasche's quantity index.
- About ten long items per mock, as in September 2026.
Questions are brand new, not copies of RTP, MTP or past-paper questions.
CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude mock test: how to use it
Timing plan for 2 hours. Do a first pass of about 75 minutes on everything you can answer quickly, marking the long ones. Spend the next 35 minutes on the marked items, and keep the last 10 minutes to check that every letter is against the right question number. Decide your guessing rule before the mock: a wrong answer costs 1/4, so a guess after ruling out even one option gains marks on average.
When to write it. After revising all eighteen chapters, from 2 PM, with no reading time. In our plan, Mock 1 is in late November, Mock 2 in the first half of December and Mock 3 between 21 and 27 December. The full dated calendar is in the CA Foundation mock test plan for Jan 2027. Solve ICAI's own MTPs and past papers too; they are on our CA Foundation free resources page.
Frequently asked questions
Is there negative marking in CA Foundation Quantitative Aptitude?
Yes. One mark for each correct answer, minus 1/4 of a mark for each wrong answer, zero for a blank, and more than one answer to a question counts as wrong. The mocks are scored the same way.
Is there reading time in CA Foundation Paper 3?
No. Papers 3 and 4 run from 2 to 4 PM with no advance reading time, so the mock gives none either.
