CA Foundation Jan 2027 mock test: 3 per paper, dated plan

· Updated · 12 min read

For the CA Foundation Jan 2027 mock test plan, write three full mocks of each of the four papers: Mock 1 in late November after your first revision, Mock 2 in the first half of December, and Mock 3 between 21 and 27 December in exam order, always at the real exam time. Check every copy before the next mock in that paper. The exam is on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027, so every full mock has to be done by 29 December.

Below: a dated calendar, what each of the four papers looks like (so your mock copies it), where ICAI's own Mock Test Papers and RTPs fit, and how to turn a checked copy into marks. The dates come from ICAI's January 2027 exam schedule (PDF) (opens in a new tab).

ICAI MTP Series I and II for January 2027Series I: 1 to 9 December 2026; Series II: 14 to 21 December 2026 (ICAI notice, PDF (opens in a new tab))

ICAI's Guidance Notes for January 2027 put the papers in number order: Accounting on 3 January, Business Laws on 5 January, Quantitative Aptitude on 7 January and Business Economics on 9 January (Guidance Notes, PDF (opens in a new tab), on icai.org). With one day between papers, there is no time for full mocks once the exam starts. All the dates: CA exam dates 2026–27.

When to write each CA Foundation mock test before 3 January

Mock 1 checks your first revision, Mock 2 checks whether you fixed it, Mock 3 is the dress rehearsal.

Now to 22 Nov–First full revision of all four papers; chapter-wise MCQ sets for Papers 3 and 4A full mock needs the whole syllabus
23 Nov to 6 DecMock 1: Accounting 23 Nov, Law 26 Nov, Maths 29 Nov, Economics 2 DecThe day after each mock: check it and log every lost markShows what costs marks while there is time to fix it
7 to 19 DecMock 2: Accounting 9 Dec, Law 12 Dec, Maths 15 Dec, Economics 18 DecTwo days of second-pass revision before each; ICAI's MTPs (Series I to 9 Dec, Series II from 14 Dec)Tests whether the fixes from Mock 1 worked

It fits as long as each mock is followed by a checking day. If December slips, drop Mock 2 in your strongest paper, never Mock 3. The day-by-day chapter plan that leads into these dates is in our CA Foundation Jan 2027 revision planner.

CA Foundation mock test paper: what each of the 4 papers looks like

A mock is only useful if it matches the paper you'll get. This table is built from ICAI's September 2026 papers and the January 2027 schedule; the full breakdown is in CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.

PaperTimeHow it's setChoice
1. Accounting3 hours + 15 min reading6 questions × 20 marks; Q1 is six true-or-false statements with reasons (12 marks), a 4-mark theory part and a 4-mark journal or subsidiary bookQ1 + any 4 of 5; one OR inside Q5(a)
2. Business Laws3 hours + 15 min reading6 questions × 20 marks, each in three parts (7 + 7 + 6; Question 6 is 7 + 6 + 7), many of them case situationsQ1 + any 4 of 5; one OR inside Q6(b)
3. Quantitative Aptitude2 hours, no reading time100 MCQs × 1 mark: Business Mathematics 40, Logical Reasoning 20, Statistics 40All compulsory; −¼ per wrong answer
4. Business Economics2 hours, no reading time100 MCQs × 1 mark across all ten chaptersAll compulsory; −¼ per wrong answer

What this means for your mock:

For January 2027, all four papers use ICAI's study material of August 2024 (Reprint August 2025 onwards), plus the January 2027 RTP for Papers 1 and 2 (ICAI notice, PDF (opens in a new tab)).

Where ICAI's MTPs and RTPs fit in your CA Foundation mock test series

ICAI's Foundation MTPs for January 2027 run Series I from 1 to 9 December and Series II from 14 to 21 December 2026, from 2 PM (ICAI notice of 21 October 2026, PDF (opens in a new tab), on its BoS announcements page (opens in a new tab)). The January 2027 RTP is on ICAI's Foundation RTP page (opens in a new tab).

Paper-wise dates and timings are in CA Inter and Foundation MTP Jan 2027 schedule. Series II ends on 21 December, 13 days before the exam starts on 3 January.

How to write a CA Foundation mock test at home

  1. Papers 1 and 2: start at 1:45 PM. Read for 15 minutes and choose your four questions and your OR. Write from 2 to 5 PM in one sitting.
  2. Papers 3 and 4: start at 2 PM with no reading time and stop at 4 PM. Write the option letter against each question number at the start of the answer book (for example "37 – B"), the way you'd fill the OMR sheet.
  3. Write by hand on numbered sheets, each written answer on a fresh page.
  4. Only the calculator you'll carry. Phone in another room, no breaks.

How to use a checked copy of your CA Foundation mock test

Checking is what moves your marks. Do it the same day or the next.

  1. Score MCQs the exam way: correct minus a quarter for each wrong. Then mark which right answers were guesses; a lucky guess is still a gap.
  2. Check each written answer step by step, not just the final figure. In Papers 1 and 2, correct entries, formats and working notes earn marks even when the total is wrong; see step marking in CA exams.
  3. Log every lost mark in one line: paper, question, cause (concept, misread, calculation, presentation, time, guess) and the fix. Then compare your log with the mistakes ICAI's examiners reported in ICAI examiner comments for CA Foundation May 2026.
  4. Rewrite, don't re-read. Close the solution and rewrite your two costliest answers the next day, timed.
  5. Revise only the chapters the log exposed before the next mock in that paper.

A worked mini-example

Say your first Maths mock reads: 74 attempted, 56 right, 18 wrong, 26 blank. Your score is 56 − 4.5 = 51.5. The log shows 10 wrong answers were blind guesses in Statistics (2.5 marks lost), and 9 blanks were Logical Reasoning questions you never reached because Business Mathematics took 70 minutes. Without a single new chapter, a fixed time split and a stricter guessing rule can add five marks or more in Mock 2. (Example written by us to show the method.)

CA Foundation test series for Jan 2027 with a checked copy

If you want new papers and your copy checked for you, our CA Foundation test series follows the same calendar: 12 papers in all: three full-syllabus mocks for each paper, one per window above.

  • The papers: brand-new questions on ICAI's study material and pattern for January 2027, not copies of RTPs, MTPs or past papers. Every chapter is covered across the three mocks, with more weight on what ICAI asks most.
  • Set like ICAI's: the same time, marks, choice and negative marking as the table above.
  • The sitting: you write by hand, scan and upload one PDF of your answer book. One submission per paper, like the real exam.
  • The checking: your checked copy within 24 hours, with ICAI-style step-wise marks and the reason for every mark cut.
  • The fixing: detailed suggested answers for every question.

You can read preview pages of Mock 1 of each subject on the plan page before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

How many mock tests should I write for CA Foundation Jan 2027?

Three full mocks per paper: one in late November, one in the first half of December and one between 21 and 27 December. Add ICAI's MTPs (1 to 21 December), but never at the cost of checking each copy.

When will ICAI release the CA Foundation MTP for January 2027?

Series I runs on 1, 3, 7 and 9 December 2026 and Series II on 14, 16, 18 and 21 December 2026, from 2 PM; the question paper goes up by 1:30 PM on the day (ICAI notice of 21 October 2026, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Paper-wise dates are in the MTP schedule post.

Where can I get CA Foundation mock test papers with answers?

ICAI's past MTPs, RTPs, past papers and suggested answers are free; we link them paper-wise on our CA Foundation free resources page. A test series adds new papers and a checked copy.

What is CA Foundation mock test Series 1 and Series 2?

They are ICAI's two rounds of Mock Test Papers for each attempt. Series I comes first and Series II a week or two later, both on the full syllabus and the current pattern, with answer keys for self-checking.

Should I attempt every MCQ in a CA Foundation mock test?

Not blindly. A wrong answer costs 1/4 of a mark and a blank costs nothing. If you can rule out even one option, a guess gains marks on average, and more so if you can rule out two; a blind guess is close to break-even. Test your rule in your mocks, not on 7 January.
