  2. Write your answers by hand, like the real exam.

Questions before you buy

How hard are the papers?

As hard as the real exam. Each paper follows ICAI’s pattern, marking scheme and difficulty, and together the papers cover every topic, with more weight on the topics that come up most.

How do I send my answer sheet?

Click a photo of each answer page in good light, keep them in order, and combine them into one PDF with Google Drive or any PDF app. Then upload it on the paper’s page.

When do I get my checked copy?

Within 24 hours of uploading, any time of day. You see the expected time as soon as you submit, and the checked copy appears on the paper’s page by itself.

What if my upload fails?

Nothing is used up until your answer sheet is in. If the connection drops, try again from the same page; a submission only counts once the upload finishes.

How long is my access?

180 days from the day you buy, so till 28 Apr 2027 if you buy today. The exact end date stays on My plans.

Can I get a refund?

Plans are non-refundable; payment problems are always fixed or refunded. If money was deducted but the plan didn’t unlock, or you were charged twice, write to us and we’ll sort it out.

Read the refund policy

A CA Foundation Business Laws mock test for Jan 2027 should do what Paper 2 does: give you case situations with dates, names and rupee figures, ask you to decide them under one Act, and mix in theory parts that ask for six points or a distinction. This one is a full 100-mark Paper 2 on ICAI's current pattern, set on the study material and amendments that apply to January 2027. You write it by hand in one sitting, scan your answer sheet and upload one PDF. Your checked copy comes back within 24 hours, with ICAI-style step-wise marks for every question and the reason for every mark cut.

How the whole test series works, with all four papers in one plan, is on the CA Foundation test series page. This page is only about Paper 2.

CA Foundation Business Laws paper pattern

From ICAI's Paper 2 of September 2026 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) and the papers before it:

Paper 2: Business Laws
Marks and time100 marks, 3 hours, with 15 minutes of reading time
QuestionsSix of 20 marks: Question 1 compulsory, then any four of the other five
PartsThree in each question: 7 + 7 + 6 marks (Question 6: 7 + 6 + 7)
Internal choiceOnly one: a 6-mark Contract theory part in Question 6, with an OR
MCQs and negative markingNone; the paper is fully descriptive

The four papers are on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027, and Paper 2 runs from 2 to 5 PM (ICAI schedule, PDF (opens in a new tab)); Paper 2 is on Tuesday 5 January 2027, as ICAI's Guidance Notes for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) on icai.org say. All four papers side by side are in CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.

CA Foundation Business Laws Jan 2027: what applies

ICAI's study material notice for January 2027 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) sets the August 2024 edition (Reprint August 2025 onwards) plus the RTP for January 2027.

  • Small company limits have changed. From 1 December 2025, a small company is one with paid-up capital up to ₹10 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore (the August 2024 study material still prints ₹4 crore and ₹40 crore). ICAI put this at the start of its September 2026 RTP for Paper 2 (PDF) (opens in a new tab), so answer with the new limits.
  • The January 2027 RTP is out on boslive.icai.org (Paper 2 RTP, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Its amendments part has one item: these same small company limits.

CA Foundation Business Laws: where the marks sit

ICAI does not publish an Act-wise split. In the September 2026 paper, the 120 printed marks (you answer 100) fell like this:

ActMarks printedWhat has come most in 2026
Indian Contract Act32Offer, acceptance and revocation (Question 1(a) every time); consideration; guarantee; breach and damages
Sale of Goods Act21Sale on approval or return; unpaid seller; conditions, warranties and caveat emptor
Companies Act21Corporate veil and OPC; indoor management and constructive notice; classes of companies
Partnership Act20Test of partnership; partners' authority; retirement and dissolution
Negotiable Instruments Act14Essentials of a note, bill and cheque; negotiation, presentment and dishonour
LLP Act6One theory part, the topic changing each time
Indian Regulatory Framework6One short recall part

About 56 of the 120 printed marks were cases. May 2026 had the same slots. More detail is in CA Foundation chapter-wise weightage for Jan 2027.

CA Foundation Business Laws: how ICAI sets and marks it

  • Cases run long: up to a page and a half, with two or three sub-questions and a twist, such as a revocation delayed by a server crash.
  • Some law questions need a calculation: a retired partner's share under Section 37, damages for anticipatory breach, or the loss on a resale by an unpaid seller.
  • The answer shape is fixed. ICAI's suggested answers for May 2026 (PDF) (opens in a new tab) state the provision, apply it "in the instant case", and end with a conclusion. Write yours the same way.

What the 5 CA Foundation Business Laws mocks cover

Every mock follows the September 2026 slot layout, so each one has the same Act-wise weight as the real paper, and across the five mocks every chapter is covered:

  • Contract: offer and acceptance in Question 1(a) of Mocks 1 to 4 and consideration in Mock 5's, plus capacity, free consent, void agreements, contingent contracts, discharge, damages, indemnity and guarantee, bailment and agency.
  • Sale of Goods: conditions and warranties, passing of property, sale on approval, transfer of title by a non-owner, unpaid seller's lien and remedies, auction sale.
  • Partnership and LLP: kinds of partners, retirement and Section 37, holding out, minors, dissolution, registration; an LLP part in every mock.
  • Companies: small company with the new limits, OPC, corporate veil, MOA, AOA, ultra vires, indoor management.
  • Negotiable Instruments: essentials of notes, bills and cheques, presentment, negotiation, foreign instruments, dishonour under Section 138.
  • Mock 4: cross offers and an acceptance never communicated; holding and subsidiary companies, a small company and a deemed public company; registering a firm, and dissolution of the firm against dissolution of the partnership; stoppage in transit after a sub-sale and a pledge, and resale by the unpaid seller; promoters; an LLP's financial year and name reservation; a partners' profit dispute with a calculation; constructive notice and indoor management; quantum meruit with a calculation; features of negotiable instruments; sources of law; implied conditions as to merchantable quality, usage of trade, and sample with description; creation of agency; three drafts tested as valid bills of exchange; time and place of performance, or a bailor's duties; a buyer's remedies and kinds of goods.
  • Mock 5: whether there is consideration when someone else asked for the work, for a past act done at request and for an existing duty; foreign and unlimited companies; partners' liability after dissolution, and a firm against a company; passing of property in unascertained goods; kinds of share capital; LLP incorporation and minimum partners; enemy character and the corporate veil; a partner's secret profit with a calculation; undue influence, misrepresentation and mistake; a surety's rights with a calculation; cheques and the presumption for the holder; criminal against civil law; a seller in possession who sells again, with the refund worked out, and a buyer who takes the goods without the seller's consent; an incoming partner's liability; sub-agent against substituted agent; presentment of instruments; valid tender, or contingent against wagering agreements; sale against hire-purchase.
  • A calculation inside law in every mock, as in September 2026.

Every case is brand new, not a copy of an RTP, MTP or past-paper question.

CA Foundation Business Laws mock test: how to use it

Timing plan for 3 hours. Use the 15 minutes of reading to pick your four questions after Question 1. Give each 20-mark question about 34 minutes, and keep the last 10 minutes to check you answered every sub-question.

When to write it. After revising all seven chapters, from 2 PM, by hand. In our plan, Mock 1 is in late November, Mock 2 in the first half of December and Mock 3 between 21 and 27 December. The full dated calendar is in the CA Foundation mock test plan for Jan 2027. Solve ICAI's own RTP, MTPs and past papers too; they are on our CA Foundation free resources page.
