CA Inter MTP Series 1 vs Series 2: the gaps that matter
- Series I ends on 30 November, Series II starts on 3 December. That's two free days between Paper 6 of Series I and Paper 1 of Series II.
- One free day between papers in each series (two before Paper 6 on the final Monday). Use the gap to check the paper against ICAI's answer key, then revise for the next one.
- Series II ends on 14 December 2026, 19 days before your first exam paper on 2 January 2027. That's enough time to rework your weak chapters after both series.
- The MTP slot is 10 AM to 1 PM, but the exam is from 2 PM. Write at least a few practice papers in the afternoon so you're used to the real slot.

What the MTP papers look like
The MTPs follow the exam pattern, so write them as you would the real paper.
CA Intermediate (all six papers): 100 marks, 3 hours. Part I is 30 marks of MCQs on the OMR sheet; Part II is 70 marks descriptive. Papers 1, 2, 4 and 5: Q1 compulsory plus any 4 of the other 5. Papers 3 and 6 are in two sections, each with a compulsory question plus any 2 of the other 3. No negative marking. Full detail: CA Inter exam pattern: MCQs, marks and choice.
CA Foundation: Papers 1 and 2 are descriptive, 3 hours, Q1 compulsory plus any 4 of the other 5, and working notes form part of the answer. Papers 3 and 4 are 100 MCQs in 2 hours: +1 for a correct answer, −1/4 for a wrong one, 0 for blank. Full detail: CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.
How to use the two series well
- Finish one full revision before Series I: 19 November for Inter, 1 December for Foundation. An MTP tells you most when you've covered the syllabus once. A day-by-day order is in the CA Inter Jan 2027 revision planner and the CA Foundation Jan 2027 revision planner.
- Write in the full time, on paper. Inter: download by 9:30 AM, write 10 AM to 1 PM. Foundation: download by 1:30 PM, write from 2 PM. No breaks.
- Check it yourself, strictly, when the answer key comes out. ICAI doesn't check MTP copies. Our guide on ICAI MTP evaluation shows how to mark yourself the way an examiner would.
- Fix the gaps before Series II. List every lost mark by chapter after Series I, revise those chapters, then write Series II.
- Keep the last weeks for weak areas. A plan for the final stretch is in last 6 weeks before CA exams: study plan with RTPs and MTPs.
