Reliable CA test series: 7 signs to check before you pay

· 12 min read

A reliable CA test series is one whose claims you can check before you pay: papers named for your attempt on ICAI's current pattern, the amendments for that attempt, full 100-mark papers, every answer checked with a reason for each mark cut, a turnaround stated in hours, detailed suggested answers, and reviews that describe the checked copy. If a series can't show you proof of these, its promises are only promises.

That matters most now. CA Final November 2026 starts on 2 November (ICAI schedule, PDF (opens in a new tab)), and CA Intermediate and CA Foundation January 2027 on 2 and 3 January (ICAI announcement, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Below are seven signs, where the proof sits on any seller's page, and a 15-minute check to run before paying.

Reliable CA test series: the 7 signs at a glance

How to read Reddit and Quora reviews, and which red flags end your search, is in our affordable CA test series review; the wider buying guide is how to choose a CA test series. This post does one thing: turns each claim into proof.

1. Papers named for your attempt, on ICAI's current pattern

A reliable paper says which attempt it is for, and its structure matches ICAI's Guidance Notes. "Latest pattern" on a banner proves nothing; the paper itself does.

Here is what the pattern looks like for the two attempts coming up:

Level and attemptWhat a mock paper must look likeICAI source
CA Final, Nov 2026, Papers 1–5100 marks: 30 marks of case-scenario MCQs, 70 marks descriptive, no negative markingFinal Guidance Notes, PDF (opens in a new tab)
CA Final, Nov 2026, Paper 6 (IBS)Open book, 4 hours, five case studies of 25 marks, answer any fourFinal Guidance Notes, PDF (opens in a new tab)
CA Inter, Jan 2027, all six papers30% case-scenario MCQs, 70% descriptive, no negative markingICAI FAQs, Q 3.16 and 3.17, PDF (opens in a new tab)
CA Foundation, Jan 2027Papers 1 and 2: descriptive, 3 hours each. Papers 3 and 4: objective, 2 hours each, ¼ mark deducted for each wrong answerFoundation Guidance Notes, PDF (opens in a new tab)

How to check it: open a preview. Look for the attempt on the paper and a 30-mark MCQ block; for CA Final Paper 6, case studies. Paper by paper detail: CA Final and CA Inter.

How ours meets it: each paper on our plan pages is labelled with its attempt, "Nov 2026" or "Jan 2027", and its marks and time, such as "100 marks · 3 hours". Every plan has brand-new questions on the latest ICAI pattern: 30% MCQs and 70% descriptive in every CA Inter paper and in CA Final Papers 1 to 5, the CA Final Group II and both-groups plans include the case-study based Paper 6, and the CA Foundation plan has descriptive Papers 1 and 2 and MCQ Papers 3 and 4, as in ICAI's paper.

2. The amendments for that attempt

Tax and law change every attempt, so a reliable series tests that attempt's amendments. A paper reused from an older attempt can mark you right for law that no longer applies.

The cut-offs ICAI has published:

Every cut-off, paper by paper, is in what's applicable for your CA attempt, and how to revise them is in how to revise amendments for CA exams.

A worked check: one question that shows the attempt

ICAI's Paper 2 amendments for January 2027 include the new small company limits: paid-up capital up to ₹10 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore (G.S.R. 880(E), 1 December 2025). The old limits were ₹4 crore and ₹40 crore.

Say a mock asks whether a private company, not a holding, subsidiary or section 8 company, with paid-up capital of ₹8 crore and turnover of ₹90 crore is a small company.

  • On the January 2027 law: yes. Both figures are within the new limits.
  • On the old law: no. Both figures cross ₹4 crore and ₹40 crore.

If a series's suggested answer says "no", its papers were not written for January 2027.

How ours meets it: every CA Final plan tests every amendment applicable for November 2026, every CA Inter plan every amendment applicable for January 2027, and the CA Foundation plan is set on the ICAI study material applicable for January 2027. See the feature lists on the CA Final, CA Intermediate and CA Foundation pages.

3. Full papers, not quizzes

A reliable CA mock test is a full 100-mark paper you write by hand in the real time. Chapter quizzes can't show whether you finish a 3-hour paper or keep your presentation up in the last hour.

How to check it: count what you actually get. "50 tests" that are mostly short quizzes are not 50 papers. Look for the marks and time on each paper, and for "full syllabus" in the plan.

How ours meets it: each plan gives 3 full-syllabus mock tests per subject, every chapter covered across them, more weight on what ICAI asks most. You write by hand and upload one PDF. How many mocks fit before the exam is in how many mock tests in a CA Final test series.

4. Every answer checked, with a reason for every mark cut

This is the sign that matters most. A total out of 100 tells you how you did. A reason for each cut tells you what to change.

A reliable checked copy gives you:

  • marks for every question, and step-wise marks inside each answer, the way ICAI marks;
  • the reason for every mark cut, such as a missing working note, a provision named but not applied, or a wrong figure;
  • the correct line to write, so you can fix it in the next paper.

How to check it: ask to see a sample checked answer before you pay. Why step marks matter is in step marking in CA exams, and what a full checked copy contains is in CA Final test series with evaluation.

How ours meets it: every line of your answer sheet is checked on 50+ parameters, with ICAI-style step-wise marks, the reason for every mark cut with the correct line to write, and a question-wise analysis of concept, presentation and working notes. Our home page shows a sample checked answer: the mistake, where it is on the page, and the correct approach.

5. Turnaround stated in hours, before you pay

A reliable series tells you how fast your checked copy comes back, in hours or days, before you buy. "Quick evaluation" is not a promise. A copy that comes back after your next paper can't stop you repeating the same mistakes.

How to check it: look for a number on the plan page, not in a chat after payment.

How ours meets it: every plan says your copy is checked within 24 hours. The plan page's FAQ adds that you see the exact time as soon as you submit, and that the checked copy appears on the paper's page by itself.

6. Detailed suggested answers

After the checked copy, the suggested answers are what you learn from. A one-line key doesn't show the provisions and working notes that earn descriptive marks.

How to check it: see whether the preview includes solution pages, and whether they show workings, not just final figures.

How ours meets it: every plan includes detailed suggested answers with provisions, working notes and MCQ reasoning. On each plan page, the first mock of every subject has a preview of a few question pages and a few solution pages. You get one checked submission per paper, and the solution opens after it, so you practise honestly first.

7. Reviews that describe the checked copy

A reliable review tells you something you could verify: how fast the copy came back, whether every cut had a reason, and which attempt the papers were for. Star ratings and "best series" comments don't.

How to check it: look at each review's date and whether it describes the checked copy. The most reliable review is still your own: one paper written in real conditions, and what comes back.

How ours meets it: our home page shows student reviews, each with its month. Read them the same way, and judge your own first checked copy above any review, ours included.

Is a CA test series good? A 15-minute check before you pay

Is a CA test series good? Only if it shows the signs above, and you can check most of them in 15 minutes.

  1. Minutes 1–3: read the plan page. Is your attempt named? Is the turnaround stated in hours? Are the amendments for your attempt mentioned?
  2. Minutes 4–9: open the preview of one paper. Check the attempt, the 30-mark MCQ block and the marks and time. Find one tax or law question and test it against your attempt's cut-off, like the small company check above.
  3. Minutes 10–13: open the solution preview. Are there provisions and working notes, or only final answers?
  4. Minutes 14–15: find a sample checked answer and a few dated reviews. Does the sample give a reason for the cut and the correct approach?

Five or more of the seven signs clearly met, including 4 and 5, is a series you can rely on. Comparing prices too? Our guide to an affordable CA Final test series shows how to work out the cost per checked paper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know a CA test series is reliable?

Check proof, not promises: the attempt named on the paper, ICAI's current pattern, the amendments for your attempt, full 100-mark papers, a sample checked answer with reasons, a turnaround stated in hours, and detailed suggested answers. Preview pages let you check most of these before you pay.

Is a CA test series good, or are ICAI's MTPs enough?

ICAI's Mock Test Papers are free and on the real pattern, but you check them yourself: ICAI uploads an answer key so students can "self-assess their performance" (ICAI MTP announcement, PDF (opens in a new tab)). A test series is worth it when you want new papers and your descriptive answers checked for you. How to check an MTP yourself is in ICAI MTP evaluation.

Which is the most reliable CA test series for CA Final?

There is no official ranking, and no provider can honestly claim to be the most reliable. The reliable ones for November 2026 pass the seven signs above. Check each with the preview and a sample checked answer.

Which is a reliable test series for CA Inter Jan 2027?

One written for January 2027: 30% MCQs and 70% descriptive in all six papers, the Paper 2 amendments up to 30 June 2026, and Taxation still on the Income-tax Act, 1961. What a full-syllabus CA Inter mock should give you is in CA Inter mock test Jan 2027.
