CA Foundation test series for Jan 2027: what you get
This is a CA Foundation test series for the January 2027 attempt: 3 full-syllabus mock tests for each of the four CA Foundation papers, written on ICAI's current pattern and checked line by line. You write each paper by hand in the real time, upload one PDF of your answer sheet, and get your checked copy back within 24 hours, with step-wise marks and a reason for every mark cut.
It is built for the last stretch before the exam, when what you need is practice at writing a complete paper, then finding out exactly where the marks went.
- One plan, all four papers. Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude and Business Economics are all in the same plan.
- Full-syllabus papers only. Every chapter is covered across the 3 mocks of a paper, with more weight on the topics ICAI asks most.
- Brand-new questions, not copies of RTPs, MTPs or past papers you may already have solved.
- The study material and pattern that apply to January 2027: the August 2024 edition (Reprint August 2025 onwards), as ICAI has listed for this attempt (ICAI notice, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
CA Foundation Jan 2027 exam dates and pattern
ICAI's schedule for CA Foundation January 2027 is 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027 (ICAI announcement, 23 September 2026, PDF (opens in a new tab)). ICAI's Guidance Notes on icai.org set the order: Paper 1 on Sunday 3 January, Paper 2 on Tuesday 5 January, Paper 3 on Thursday 7 January and Paper 4 on Saturday 9 January 2027 (ICAI Guidance Notes, PDF (opens in a new tab)). The schedule stays the same even if one of those days is declared a public holiday.
The exam form is on the ICAI Self Service Portal from 3 November 2026, and 16 November 2026 is the last date without a late fee. Every date is in CA Foundation and Inter January 2027 exam dates.
How each paper is set, from ICAI's own September 2026 papers:
- Papers 1 and 2: six questions of 20 marks; Question 1 is compulsory, then any four of the other five, and "Working notes should form part of the answers" (Paper 1, September 2026, PDF (opens in a new tab); Paper 2, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
- Papers 3 and 4: 100 MCQs with four options. One mark for a correct answer, minus 1/4 of a mark for a wrong one, zero for a blank (Paper 3, September 2026, PDF (opens in a new tab); Paper 4, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
100 MCQs in 2 hours is 1 minute 12 seconds a question, with no reading time. The full breakdown, with a worked example of negative marking, is in CA Foundation exam pattern and marking.
CA Foundation mock tests: how they work
- Download the paper from your account when you are ready to sit for it.
- Write it by hand, in the real time, closed book:
- Papers 1 and 2: 3 hours, with 15 minutes of reading first, as ICAI allows. Answer Question 1 and any four of the other five, with working notes under each answer.
- Papers 3 and 4: 2 hours, no reading time, a calculator only. Write the option letter (A, B, C or D) against each question number at the start of your answer book, the way you would fill the OMR sheet.
- Scan your answer book and upload it as one PDF. There is one submission per paper, just like the exam, so upload when you have finished the whole paper.
- Get your checked copy within 24 hours. It shows:
- ICAI-style step-wise marks for every question in Papers 1 and 2, not just right or wrong on the final figure;
- in Papers 3 and 4, your score the way ICAI counts it: plus one, minus a quarter, or zero for a blank;
- a reason for every mark cut, with the correct line or option you should have written.
- Read the suggested answers. Every paper has detailed suggested answers: the entries and working notes, the section and its application, and the working behind every MCQ.
- Fix, then write the next mock. The 24-hour turnaround is the point: you see what went wrong while the paper is still fresh, and change how you write before the next one.
If step marking is new to you, read how step marking works in CA exams.
CA Foundation Jan 2027 mock test series: what the plan covers
There is one plan for CA Foundation January 2027, and it covers all four papers. The plan card above shows what it includes and how long access lasts.
The plan page shows preview pages of Mock 1 of every paper, so you can see the level and style of the questions before you decide.
CA Foundation passing marks: how ICAI passes you
From ICAI's FAQs on the Foundation examination (Q 2.14, PDF) (opens in a new tab): you pass if you get, at one sitting, at least 40% in each paper and at least 50% in the aggregate of all four papers. That is 40 in each paper and 200 out of 400.
So one weak paper can sink the attempt even when the other three are strong: your mocks need to show that no paper is below 40. In Papers 3 and 4, count negative marks honestly: 80 right and 20 wrong is 75, not 80.
CA Foundation mock test schedule before January 2027
Your first paper is on 3 January 2027. A simple way to use the weeks before it:
| Window | What to do |
|---|
| Now to 22 November | Finish your first full revision of all four papers |
| 23 November to 6 December | Mock 1 of each paper: it shows which chapters and habits cost marks |
| 7 to 19 December | Mock 2: tests whether your fixes from Mock 1 worked |
| 20 to 29 December | Mock 3 of each paper, at 2 PM, in exam order: a dress rehearsal |
| 30 December to 2 January | No new full papers; rewrite the answers your error log flags |
- Leave a day after each mock to fix it. Read the checked copy, log every mark cut, and go back to the study material for the concepts you got wrong.
- Take the four papers in turn in every round, so no paper goes cold, and never drop Mock 3.
- Keep room for ICAI's MTPs. For January 2026, ICAI held Foundation MTP Series I from 15 to 22 December 2025 and Series II from 29 December 2025 to 5 January 2026 (ICAI announcement, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Those are last year's dates, not a forecast.
The full dated calendar is in our CA Foundation Jan 2027 mock test plan, and a chapter-by-chapter schedule is in the CA Foundation Jan 2027 revision planner. Which chapters carry the most marks in each paper is in CA Foundation chapter-wise weightage for Jan 2027, and a paper-by-paper approach is in how to pass CA Foundation in Jan 2027.
CA Foundation Jan 2027 study material
ICAI has listed the study material for January 2027 (ICAI notice, PDF (opens in a new tab)):
- All four papers: the August 2024 edition (Reprint August 2025 onwards). The set marked "Relevant for May, 2027 and Onwards" is not for this attempt.
- Papers 1 and 2: also the RTP for January 2027, which ICAI has published on boslive.icai.org (ICAI RTP page (opens in a new tab)). The Business Laws RTP opens with the amendments that apply.
- Paper 1 corrigendum: ICAI issued a corrigendum to the Accounting study material on 25 August 2026 (ICAI, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Read it with your book.
CA Foundation test series vs ICAI's free MTPs and RTPs
ICAI's Mock Test Papers (MTPs) and Revision Test Papers (RTPs) are free, official and well worth doing. ICAI holds its January 2027 Foundation MTPs from 1 to 9 December 2026 (Series I) and from 14 to 21 December 2026 (Series II), from 2 PM (ICAI announcement, PDF (opens in a new tab)); the paper-wise dates are in the CA Inter and Foundation MTP Jan 2027 schedule.
| ICAI MTPs and RTPs | This test series |
|---|
| Cost | Free | Paid plan |
| Questions | Official ICAI papers, widely solved and discussed | Brand-new questions on the same pattern |
| Checking | You check yourself against ICAI's answers | Your handwritten copy is checked line by line |
| Step marks and reasons for mark cuts | You work them out yourself | Given for every question, with the correct line to write |
| When you write | On ICAI's scheduled dates | Whenever you choose, while your plan is active |
To self-check strictly, see how to check your ICAI MTP. We check only the papers in our own plan, not ICAI's MTPs.
All of ICAI's CA Foundation papers, linked straight to ICAI, are on our free pages: mock test papers (MTP), revision test papers (RTP), past year question papers and ICAI study material, or everything at once on CA Foundation free resources. ICAI's own answers to the May 2026 papers, paper by paper, are in CA Foundation suggested answers May 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best CA Foundation test series for Jan 2027?
The one whose papers match ICAI's current pattern, cover the whole syllabus on the January 2027 study material, and come back checked step by step in time to fix them before the next mock. Our guide on how to choose a CA test series lists what to check.
How many CA Foundation mock tests should I write?
Three full mocks per paper is a workable target: one in late November after your first revision, one in the first half of December, one between 21 and 27 December. Add ICAI's MTPs (1 to 21 December 2026), but never at the cost of checking each copy.
Can I see the questions before I buy?
Yes. The plan page shows preview pages of Mock 1 of every paper.
How do I answer the MCQ papers in a mock?
Write the option letter against each question number at the start of your answer book, one letter per question: more than one counts as wrong, as in ICAI's paper.
Is there negative marking in a CA Foundation mock test?
In Papers 3 and 4, yes, exactly as in ICAI's paper: minus 1/4 of a mark for each wrong answer and zero for a blank. Papers 1 and 2 are descriptive and have no negative marking.
How many times can I submit a paper?
Once per paper, like the real exam. Write the whole paper, then upload one PDF of your answer book. To practise a weak question again, rewrite it on your own using the suggested answer and the reasons given for your mark cuts.
